New Balance 2014 Spring MRT580 "Art" Pack
I worked on two projects with New Balance Japan, helping them release a special four-colorway Japan-centric pack for the MRT580 silhouette. I drew inspiration from traditional Japanese artwork to showcase the shoes.
The pack is a blend of tonal suede, pigskin and all-season mesh accented with reflective 3M for safety. The MRT580 comes in a choice of Black/Pink/Blue, Purple/Teal, Maroon/Beige and Grape/Teal colorways. The pack got global exposure across the most popular men's fashion websites/blogs and helped the 500 pairs ordered sell in under a month of the initial release.
New Balance 2014 Fall MRT580 "Japan" Pack
Since the first pack released with such a bang, New Blanace Japan asked for help with another release of MRT580's to North America. Originally planned as an Asia-only release, the sneakers feature a trio of colorways that take cues from Japan’s terrain, focusing specifically on the country’s rocks, sand and soil. The images had global exposure, shared on New Balance's official social media accounts and men's fashion blogs across the web. At the time, I was really into the Kanye Bound 2 video and wanted to create something that felt super over the top and surreal, this was the result.
